NEW YORK: GOOD EATS

September 19, 2015

You know what I was primarily excited about during this trip? FOOD. New York has food places and trucks on (almost) every block. Being in Manhattan and Brooklyn most of the time, we were surrounded by food places. I looked up reviews and recommendations of places to go to and I also just went to places on a whim. Here are some of my favorite eateries:

Ample Hills Creamery (Brooklyn). I saw this place on the way to the hotel when we first arrived and decided to check it out. I LOVED it! The shop is two stories with seating both downstairs and upstairs. There is additional seating on the roof deck which looks really nice during the evening. I got a small Coffee Toffee Coffee in a bowl (pictured below).

Dominique Ansel Bakery (SoHo). If I were to fall in love with a pastry from this trip, it would be the DKA from Dominique Ansel Bakery. I can see how it competes with their famous cronut (which was sold out *sad face*). I haven't had the cronut yet, but I CERTAINLY love the DKA (pictured above).

(Chinatown). I don't have a specific place since there were so many shops that carried the same thing, but I loved the pastries from Chinatown. One place that my whole family loved (especially my dad) was The Original Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. I don't have a good picture of it (we ate it quickly because it was FANTASTIC), but I got the Green Tea flavored ice cream.

(Koreatown). Koreatown may win the award for best looking desserts (do you see that cake?!). We went to a Parisian inspired bakery named Paris Baguette (not pictured). We got a couple very tasty pastries from there. The store looked really nice and you get to select your own pastries. Also, we went to a cafeteria place to get food and I tried bulgogi for the first time ever. I always saw Korean food and wanted to try it, but nowhere near me sold Korean meals. So finally, I had it and I REALLY love it. A lot. In fact, I want some more bulgogi right now.

Pizzarte (Manhattan). So, I forced my family to make reservations for an intentional meal (instead of "What's that? Let's eat here!"). My pick was Pizzarte, which is near the Radio City Music Hall area. The service there is spectacular. They were friendly, helpful, and they had Italian accents (what more could you want). The decor was upscale and modern. The restaurant is also a gallery so there are paintings on the wall that can even be purchased. The food was really nice. I got the Fettuccine Alle Castagne (pictured above).

Ladurée (Manhattan). I've heard so much about this place and their wonderful macarons. Oh my gosh, best macarons ever. I got the Marie-Antoinette Tea, Coffee, Vanilla, Salted Caramel, and Pistachio (pictured above from Left to Right). Les macarons sont très magnifique.
